Natural Hot Springs are Soaking Spectacular – with Video

On this episode of One Epic Adventure, the Traveling Travaglinos, together with the Felty Foursome, hiked to Fifth Hot Water Springs in  Diamond Fork canyon, south east of Provo, UT.

This family friendly hike to the springs is approx 2.5 miles along a large and sometimes fast flowing stream.

We choose a spring weekday for this adventure, to avoid the crowds that arrive on the weekends.

IMG_2455

During the hike, the skies opened up and pelleted us with hail for about 10 minutes.
When you arrive at the springs there are several sparkling pools that have been made for your soaking pleasure.

IMG_2481
The pools closer to the water fall are considerably warmer then the lower ones which you’ll encounter first (and the fact that there was a gentleman bathing au’natural in the first one) made the upper ones far more appealing.

IMG_2466

Most of the pools create a convergence between the cool river and the very hot thermal springs.

Depending on your preference, you can find your “sweet spot” where the two bodies of water blend to your perfect temperature.

We loved our time soaking in Fifth Hot Water Springs and recommend you check out this hike when you’re in the Provo Area.

The 10 Funnest Games to Pack for Your Camping Trip

Kimberly No Comments

What’s camping without games?  It’s like spaghetti without meatballs!  When packing for your upcoming camping trip, be sure to “toss” (get it;) some of these favorites in your RV!

This Top Ten List Idea was submitted by Becky Howell

    1. Horseshoes.  A classic camping game!  Could be a bit heavy, and be sure Junior is not behind you before you toss.
    2. Whats camping without a little cornhole?  Ah… definitely not camping!
    3. Frisby!  Get off those chairs and play! So light weight you could pack like a dozen of them and have them double as plates for dinner.
    4. Bocce Ball.  Another classic!  Little known fact from this Italian family, Bocce means *kiss* so pucker up and toss those balls!
    5. Lawn Darts.  If people don’t want to play, make them the target.
    6. Croquette.  Not just for wonderland anymore
    7. Large Jenga Blocks.  Whats more fun than building stuff?  Knocking it down!
    8. Badmitten.  Throw up the net, then serve!
    9. Watermelon Ball.  Never heard of it?  Watch this:

10. Monopoly.  No its not a typical camping game.  But it will get you through the rainy days!

We’re on a 1,000 mile tour with Jellystone Parks and RV Trader to show America what RVing really looks like!  Wanna be part of the adventure, check out our tour dates and locations on our Facebook Page: ThisisRVing and tag your RVing pics on social media with #thisisRVing for your chance to be featured on the tour!

and p.s. “funnest” is a word.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park of Fremont, IN

Kimberly No Comments

As the #thisisRVing tour headed north through Indiana, on a bright and sunny Friday, we pulled into Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Barton Lake in Fremont, IN.

Our first impression, “Holy cow! this looks just like the entrance to a National Park!”.  The Ranger Station was awesome!

IMG_5848We parked in our roomy pull through in the overflow section.  We actually preferred this spot as the rest of the very large 1200 site campground was hopping with campers registering, golf carts being rented left and right and kids on bikes as far as the eye could see. We found out the campground was completely sold out for the Tropical Paradise Weekend.

We opened our slides and headed to the main amenity area.  Watch our video below, where Dominick gives you a tour of this campground wonderland and a first person perspective of the parks 10 story water slides!

If you’ve been following our tour, then you know our family loves the Jellystone Jump Pillows!  But there was so much more of this park to explore.  Bike rentals, an arcade, a tiki bar, paddle boats, and we had only scratched the surface.  We took a break from exploring to participate in the campground’s hula hooping contest.

IMG_5859

After 6 years on the road, our kids are hula hooping ringers (it’s our back up plan if roadschooling doesn’t work out) and DJ and Tonia both took home the 1st place prizes in their division.

Feeling pretty confident, we headed over to the Sand Castle competition at the park’s beach.  Our construction skills were seriously lacking in this area, but we enjoyed watching the other families bring their sand sculptures to life.

After some lunch, we were ready for a swim, but what water feature should we chose? This Jellystone has tons of wet and wild fun.  From the splash park with the dumping bucket, to the wading pool, the little kids water area, the indoor pool, or even the lake front beach, there’s a soaking place for every day of your stay!

IMG_5878One of the highlights of our weekend, was when Chris and I met Roger Barry.  Roger has owned the park for over 30 years!  He told us not to miss the Sunday Service and we’re certainly glad we didn’t.

We made so many happy family memories at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone at Lake Barton and met so many wonderful people!  We can’t wait to come back to this great park!

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Cave City, KY

Kimberly No Comments

IMG_5717Our first Kentucky stop on the #thisisRVing tour was at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Cave City, KY.

Cave City is home to Mammoth Cave, the country’s 2nd oldest tourist attraction and the combination of amenities, activities and central location, make this Jellystone Park the perfect camp home for exploring this area full of natural wonders and history.

We pulled in on a Sunday night during the Princesses Rule and Pirates Drool Weekend.  Our first adventure was a tour of the park amenities which include a large jumping pillow, a water zone splash pad, large swimming pool, mini-golf, large sites and charming cabins.

We watched the Hayride tour the campground, donned our bathing suits, grabbed a towel and explored the main guest areas of this large park.

We bounced a bit to work up an appetite and then headed to Yogi’s Pic-a-Nik Basket to order some dinner.  After dinner, we hit one of the park’s main attractions, the hillside water slide!

IMG_5709

The slide was tons of fun and my kids rode it again and again.  For a 1st person water slide ride, click on the video below!

When we were fully waterlogged, we went back to the bounce pad and waited for the outdoor movie to start in the pavilion.

As the sun set, a game a nighttime hide and go seek kicked off and the kids had a blast finding each other on the dark playground!

There was so much to do at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Cave City, KY, we really only scratched the surface, but it was time for the #thisisRVing tour to move north.  We’re looking forward to spending more time at this campground in the future.
