We all know how important a well-balanced diet is. Good nutrition helps ensure our bodies stay happy and healthy throughout our lives. Additionally, eating well gives us energy and helps us to think more clearly.

It’s never too early to adopt healthy eating habits, and the Fulltime Families Explorers know this. Therefore, this clever group of kids spent the month of April learning all about what a healthy diet looks like and how to make some healthy foods for themselves.

What We Did

Throughout the month of April, our Explorers read books about nutrition, perused cookbooks, and discussed the importance of healthy eating. They created recipes of their own, cooked entire meals, and even played games related to healthy eating. All of the Explorers who earned this badge learned something new and exciting about how wonderful the right foods can be for our bodies.

Every Explorer who participated posted their completed project to the Explorers Facebook page. This gave other Explorers a chance to admire their skills, and gave us the opportunity to award them their “Healthy Eating” pin and certificate!

What We Learned

The Explorers program hopes to help kids adopt healthy habits that will help them throughout their lives. To earn this badge, participants learned all about nutrition, gathering important information, learning how to do research, teaching others what they found out, and finding ways to make healthy eating fun and exciting.

All of these are skills that can be used into adulthood, and many Explorers found they were quite interested in learning more about healthy eating!
