Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Cave City, KY

Kimberly No Comments

IMG_5717Our first Kentucky stop on the #thisisRVing tour was at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Cave City, KY.

Cave City is home to Mammoth Cave, the country’s 2nd oldest tourist attraction and the combination of amenities, activities and central location, make this Jellystone Park the perfect camp home for exploring this area full of natural wonders and history.

We pulled in on a Sunday night during the Princesses Rule and Pirates Drool Weekend.  Our first adventure was a tour of the park amenities which include a large jumping pillow, a water zone splash pad, large swimming pool, mini-golf, large sites and charming cabins.

We watched the Hayride tour the campground, donned our bathing suits, grabbed a towel and explored the main guest areas of this large park.

We bounced a bit to work up an appetite and then headed to Yogi’s Pic-a-Nik Basket to order some dinner.  After dinner, we hit one of the park’s main attractions, the hillside water slide!

IMG_5709

The slide was tons of fun and my kids rode it again and again.  For a 1st person water slide ride, click on the video below!

When we were fully waterlogged, we went back to the bounce pad and waited for the outdoor movie to start in the pavilion.

As the sun set, a game a nighttime hide and go seek kicked off and the kids had a blast finding each other on the dark playground!

There was so much to do at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Cave City, KY, we really only scratched the surface, but it was time for the #thisisRVing tour to move north.  We’re looking forward to spending more time at this campground in the future.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Nashville, TN

Kimberly No Comments

IMG_5644Our first Tennesee stop on the #thisisRVing tour was the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in downtown Nashville.

We had visited this park in the fall and knew the great things to expect.  The Nashville Jellystone is a friendly and rustic oasis  tucked in the center of Music City.  It’s shady spots and family friendly amenities make it a great jumping off spot to explore all the treasures of Nashville,  but you may find so much to do at the park that you never actually leave.

We pulled in on a Friday night during the Hawaii Themed Weekend.  Our first adventure was a tour around the park atop a vintage fire truck.  Sirens and lights in full effect, all ages enjoyed the ride.

IMG_5667

After that, it was time to get some of our pent-up roadtrip energy out on the bounce pad.  The Nashville Jellystone Park has a huge assortment of inflatables that both parents and kids can bounce on together.  Nestled in the corner of the park is also a playground our kiddos enjoyed.

While at the park, we watched Boo Boo bring down the flag and Cindy joined us on the “hey” ride.  There were lots of opportunities to meet and mingle with the Jellystone Bears!

IMG_5613On Saturday, we started the day with a crazy fun game of laser tag.  This was my family’s favorite activity, hands down (and guns up).   The laser tag guns this park has are some serious weaponry.  You can change modes, set games, time limits, and restock ammo, all through the gun’s software and blue tooth technology.

After the laser tag game, we headed to the mini golf to perfect our swings and got up to our elbows in sparkles at the craft barn.

Chris and Blaise rented some awesome bikes and tooled around the park and then it was time to get ready for the Laua.  We donned our grass skirts and participated in the hula hoop and limbo contests.  Andy, the park owner, together with his fine staff of managers and cheerful rangers, have created a friendly atmosphere. Their theme weekends are packed with activities that appeal to every age group and the amenities at the park are great for every activity level.  From lounging at the pool to bouncing on the inflatables, edible playdough, arts and crafts and games of all types, there really is something for everyone to do at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Nashville, GA.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Bremen, Georgia

Kimberly No Comments

1220a_jellystoneOn our third stop of the #thisisRVing tour, we headed due west of the hustle and bustle of Atlanta, to the sleepy rural town of Bremen, GA, and found a true vacation treasure at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Bremen, GA.

Pulling up to the Ranger Station, we immediately recognized that this Jellystone Park has a lot of custom, one of a kind features.

The park is immaculate!  Rich red mulch against a carpet of lush green grass highlights the beauty of the park’s extensive and stunning landscaping.

After pulling into our level and long pull through site, we headed out to explore the grounds and were amazed to find a menagerie of exotic animals.  From giant tortoises, to dancing birds, to a snake named Lucy this park has it all from fins to feathers.IMG_5553

There are several playgrounds and we spent quite a lot of time at the one with the rope swing.  My kids loved the “tree house” feel of this play space and getting them to leave was quite a challenge.  Through dusk we played a couple of rounds of teetherball and then headed back to the RV for a good night’s sleep so we’d be well rested for the day ahead.

The next day, the kids made a variety of arts and crafts in the well organized craft room, and then we went on a train ride around the park. We also went bouncing on the bounce pillow and got a few quick dips in the pool before the thunder rolled in.

The park was designed by owner Phil Asztalos, who explained to us that he used his previous knowledge in the automotive industry to create a layout that would allow all the guests to easily access the centrally located amenities.

After chatting with Phil, we hit the mini golf and scored several holes in one, or at least, that’s how we’re counting them.

We had several opportunities to talk with the staff at this park and all of them were friendly, warm and welcoming.  It was obvious that they loved being a part of this park and serving their campground customers.

IMG_1265Yogi Bear’s Jellystone at Bremen, GA is a first rate campground with accommodations for RVs (overnight to long term), tent campers and cabin rentals. The park also offers a variety of structured family friendly activities including games and crafts.

We stayed for 2 days but could easily have spent an entire vacation here.  We hitched up and headed out to the next stop on our tour, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Nashville, TN.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Madison Florida

Almost there!

At the cross roads of I-10 and 75 you’ll find Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Madison, Florida.

As you pull into the park, you are immediately immersed in the rustic, north Florida, family-friendly atmosphere.  Right outside the registration office you’ll find a family game room area.

As soon as you enter the gates of the park, the amenities urge you to park as fast as possible and don your swim suit… or at least that’s what happened to us.

No sooner had we opened our slides on our 60+ foot pull through site (this very large park also has cabin rentals and tent sites), than we were toting our towels to the Tornado Slide and park’s sandy beach area…. Wait, what… a sandy beach in north Florida?  That’s right, we were able to put our toes in the water and … well you get the picture.

Large Level Pull Through

Large Level Pull Through

We picked out our beach chairs and headed up the seven story staircase with bright yellow magic carpets water slide mats and proceeded to slip, slide and splash our way into one of the main water features at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Madison.

Unfortunately, I needed a little water slide orientation, which Dominick was happy to provide, because my 1st time down the Tornado my body pulled a 180 and I went down the entire slide backwards!  The 2nd time I got it right!

After the excitement of the 60′ Water Slide, we could all use a relaxing float in the Lazy River. We took our tubes and went around several times to gear up more strength to explore more of the park.

We headed across the way to the pool area and partook in a couple of rounds of the Down Pour Derby!  This was a fun hand pedal mechanism in which you and your opponent compete to soak each other with buckets full of water that hang precariously over head.

Gettin Our Pool On!

Fully water logged, it was time to check out just how bouncy the jump pillow was and the park’s bounce houses.  We found them to be super springy and helped us to work up an appetite so we headed back to our camper and made some dinner.

After dinner, Chris and the kids went to the Ranger Station for dessert and tired and tuckered out, we hit the hay!

Enjoying a treat from the Ranger Station

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone at Madison, Florida is a very large campground with additional amenities such as kayak / boat rentals, Gaga Ball, fishing, ATV trails and much more.    The park also offers a variety of structured family friendly activities including games and crafts.

We would have loved to stay longer, but we had to pull out the following day to meet with Horizon RV Sales and Service and explore Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Bremen, GA.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park of Bloomington

Kimberly No Comments

IMG_5755As the #thisisRVing tour pulled into Indiana, it was time to stop  at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Bloomington, IN.

Located south west of Indianapolis, Bloomington IN is known as the “Gateway to Scenic Southern Indiana” and the Jellystone this town boasts is certainly scenic.

We pulled in to our large and spacious pull-through site on Monday afternoon and headed straight to the… laundry room!  After a few days on the road, it was time to clean the clothes. Centrally located and spotless, I was able to get many loads done while the kids explored the park’s highlight, the giant splash pool!

With multiple slides, tons of features and a ginormous bucket that dumps on regular intervals, this wet and wild play place was a huge hit with our family.

After we were fully waterlogged, we headed to the bounce pillow for some “Jump and Jam”.  I immediately noticed how engaged the Jellystone Rangers were with the kids.  They bounced right along with the music, initiated games like duck, duck, goose and tag and really added to the kid’s enjoyment of this fun feature.

IMG_5766

We headed home for a late dinner and an early bedtime because we had a ton of fun on the schedule for the next day.

Bright and early, we headed back to the Ranger Station for a quick park wide scavenger hunt.  With our appetite wet for treasure, we purchased two bags of  gem mining dirt (one containing gems and one containing fossils) and headed to the gem mining flume.  This was a great highlight – check out the video to see the kid’s reactions to their unearthed treasures!

Next on the schedule was some mask making and marble painting.   The littles and I created masterpieces while the big boys and Chris went back to the splash pool.

IMG_5782

We met up with Yogi and got some ice cream at the Ranger Station. We heard rumors of a short hike to a waterfall within the park but we were too wiped out to actually explore it and it was time again for the #thisisRVing tour to move further north. We’re looking forward to spending more time at this campground in the future.
