Below is a list of all the closures we know about currently. Of course, this list is sure to grow and evolve over time, so be sure to double-check for yourself before heading to any new campground.  While campgrounds are open, most facilities and visitor centers have closed, so consider that as you are making your arrangements.

Thousand Trails System

  • Thousand Trails and Encore Parks have not closed any parks.  There are some parks that have delayed opening for the season, and some parks are full because of allowing members to extend their stays to follow the “Stay at Home” orders, so they are no longer taking new reservations.  If you are needing to make a reservation call the reservation line or use the online system.
  • Bathhouses and/or laundry rooms are closed in some Thousand Trails locations.
  • They announced on 3/19 that they will be allowing extensions to members stays outside of the contract timeframe.  Read full details here.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Campgrounds

  • All U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed campgrounds have begun an orderly shutdown. Individuals with paid reservations will be contacted by email and full refunds will automatically be processed by Recreation.gov with no cancellation fees. Individuals should not attempt to contact Recreation.gov to request a refund as that will lead to a cancellation fee being charged.  (Some District details are outlined below under the State they are located in.)

 

Escapees RV Club Campgrounds

  •  Most of their parks are still open, but are at capacity.  Please check their website for a current listing of which parks are still taking Reservations.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District, all campgrounds are delaying opening for the season until further notice.

Arkansas

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District Campgrounds- Closed effective March 23rd.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District Campgrounds, are honoring reservations that start before March 22nd to stay for the entirety of their reservation.  No new reservations will be accepted after March 22nd.
  • National Forest Campgrounds- Closed
    • Ouachita National Forest- Campgrounds Closed, but dispersed camping is still OPEN
    • Ozark- St. Francis National Forest- Campgrounds Closed, but dispersed camping is still OPEN

California

  • Port St. Lucie County Park Campgrounds- no longer accepting new reservations, all existing campers are encouraged to stay put until March 30.
  • Fort Pickens Campground, Pensacola- Closed
  • Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will close at 5pm on March 20th.
  • Orlando SE/ Lake Whippoorwill KOA- Closed to new arrivals

Georgia

  • Hard Labor Creek State Park is prepped for use as a quarantine facility (call for campground availability)
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineer, Savannah District Campgrounds that have not opened for the year will remain closed.
    • Watsadler Campground and Twin Lakes Campground will allow campers arriving by March 18th to stay until the end of their reservation.  All future reservations are being canceled.

    • This includes all Illinois State Parks.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds in the St. Louis, IL district are closed for incoming patrons after Thursday March 19th. Those with reservations up to and through the 19th will be able to stay through the duration of their reservation. No walk-ins are permitted as of March 17th.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District- Closed
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District managed facilities are closed. Campground openings are not taking new reservations

Indiana

Shelter at Home Order in effect as of March 24th

  • Indiana U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, facilities near the dams at J.E. Roush, Salamonie, Mississinewa, Cecil M. Harden, Cagles Mill, Patoka and Monroe lakes are closed.

Iowa

Kansas

Louisiana

  • Bayou Segnette State Park closed. Campground reservations have been canceled through April 13. Park is being used for emergency staging needs

New Mexico

Rhode Island

  • Rhode Island State Parks normal season opening is April 10th, the decision will be made by April 1, if the parks will be allowed to open on time.

South Carolina

  • Tennessee Valley Authority delayed opening of 5 campgrounds.  Campgrounds were to open March 15th, they will be closed at least 30 more days.
